The Results are In from May I Quote You

I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you to sleep while awaiting the results of my May I Quote You? post.  So, without further ado…

  1. “There’s something on the wing.  Some…thing…on the wing.” – Either Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, or The Twilight Zone Episode, Nightmare at 20,000 feet
  2. “or perhaps you don’t want to see the second largest ball of twine on the face of the earth, which is only four short hours away?” – Vacation
  3. “Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads.” – Back to the Future
  4. “Roll ‘em up!” – Vacation
  5. “I thought the Rocky Mountains would be a lot rockier.” – Dumb and Dumber
  6. “Cow!” – Either Twister or Throw Mama From the Train
  7. “Surely you can’t be serious.”  “I am serious and don’t call me Shirley.” – Airplane  – Also,  “wait for it, wait for it” has been used countless times and “don’t leave me hanging” is a quote offered by Puddy from Seinfeld episode The Dealership.
  8. “So you’re telling me there’s a chance.” – Dumb and Dumber
  9. “That’s north to pick up and south to drop off, moron.” – Mr. Mom
  10. “Up here, I’m already gone.” – Kramer from Seinfeld talking about going to California

The other bonuses:  “quote like the wind” was a nod to The Three Amigos, and “Quotes oozed out like a melted malted” was a rephrasing from Throw Mama From the Train.

Once again my kids have done me proud.  Dena got 5 right plus one of the bonuses.  Joe called in his answers and I think he got all of them except for #9.  Joe wins an all expense paid stay at our house for him and his wife, anytime for the rest of their lives.

Some of my favorite responses came from Roy who showed what a good parent he was by blaming his knowledge of Dumb and Dumber on his kids.  It reminded me of the time when that movie first came out.  At that point Bob and I always went to see the movies before we allowed our kids to view them.  We went to see D&D and laughed ourselves silly.  We came home and said, “This movie is hilarious.  You aren’t allowed to see it.”  Of course eventually they did, and as with many movies they are much safer off of TV than the uncut version.  Another response came from our friends Mike and Moggie who don’t quite get our humor but love us anyway.  To quote Moggie, “Considering the fact that your and Bob’s sense of humor is out there, sssssssooooooooooo different than me and Michael,——-we don’t have a clue what you are talking about!!!!! But if “THIS” keeps your sanity———-well God bless you both!!!! The only thing remotely familiar is the “Twilight Zone with William Shatner” Nightmare at 20000 feet. The rest must be related to that “stupid vacation movie with the ridiculously stupid comedian.”and that’s a quote from Michael.Oh this IS fun!!”

  1. The depth of knowlege here, is unintelligible. I can only scratch the surface of such profound banalities. I’m so impressed!
