Why The Name

God really got my attention during the January 2011 meeting of my writers group, and that was just the beginning.  The next morning I read the Book of Jonah.  It was not an intentional, “Hey, I think I’ll read Jonah;” Jonah was just next up in my Bible reading plan.  I read Jonah 1:3, and I was stopped in my tracks.  “But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.  He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port.  After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”

I had never looked at my disobedience to the promptings and direction of the Lord in my writing as seriously as God wanted me to.  Over and over again in the last several years God has patiently brought me back to writing.  I have been hit and miss.  That morning God let me see the comparison between me and Jonah and that is what gave birth to this funny name for my blog.  I hope that as you visit me here you will find yourself smiling and maybe even laughing out loud at life.  Picture Jonah talking to a bunch of his friends after God spared Nineveh.  It’s really a funny story and makes a great point.
