I went into Bath and Body Works the other day to pick up some Fall soaps. Down here in Florida it is a part of the passage from hot summer to warm fall to do whatever you can to trick yourself into believing that there has been a change of season. At the first sign of highs in the mid-80s you can see people down here light up in anticipation of cooler weather (anything below 90 accompanied by humidity below 70%). I am happy to report that fall will be here again this weekend. Time to chop the firewood and get out the sweaters.
I love Bath and Body Works because they feature seasonal soaps. This year I have Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin in my kitchen. Orchard Leaves and Caramel Apple are in the bathrooms. Yes, as long as we wash our hands a lot, fall is in the air. I am particularly fond of the air freshener that I bought last year for fall – Leaves. The scent is so wonderful that it makes me thankful whenever someone is in the bathroom and needs to cover an offensive odor. One night after a chili dinner I had a smile on my face all night long as I enjoyed the scent of leaves over and over. My husband is starting to be suspicious that I might be putting a laxative in our meals, but I have assured him I would never do that.
As I wandered through B&BW, I felt like I was being engaged in conversation by the products on the shelves. It was a little unnerving at first – a little too interactive for me.
Also, in addition to the pleasant fall items and discounted summer items there are some things that should not be purchased as a means of cleansing your hands. If I wanted to buy Zombie Tonic or Vampire Blood, Bath & Body Works is about the last place I would have looked, but there it was. Apparently they cover the whole gamut of fall needs.
I did not purchase these last two items as I wasn’t certain of their intended use. I’ll stick with Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, thank you very much.
smiles that you even know how to spell sweater let alone have any…these days we have fleeces…so few ladies can still knit… altho of course mine can! mmmm

Well, Roger, I’ve always been a pretty good speller. When we moved down here 30 some years ago I didn’t think I’d need coats, I was wrong. You don’t need them as much, but we do get our cold fronts. I’m not surprised that Shirley can knit, she has that domestic air about her. I tried my hand at it and sadly I am not very coordinated. Thanks for your fun comment.

Like you, in Florida, we don’t have much of a Fall in Bakersfield, California. One of my recent blog posts (for the Ultimate Blog Challenge) worked to catalog Fall… (I’ll link to it below if you would like to see.)
I made applesauce yesterday and am thinking, this weekend… it will be pumpkin cookies! Thank you for the inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Julie. I just checked out your fall post and loved it. Applesauce does sound good. I may have to do this with my granddaughters.

Yeah… I don’t think I would be “cleansing” my hands with vampire blood… ew!

Thanks for the comment, Amanda. There are some strange products out there. Hey, I noticed you changed the name of your blog (right?). How has that worked out for you? I’m planning to change the name of mine and hope to have that accomplished before the month is over, but I’m so not good at the technical side of stuff.

I visited Miami in February and loved it! I don’t know if I would feel the same way in the summer. If you want to experience winter, come to Wisconsin. We have plenty of snow to go around!

You know it’s not winter I miss so much, it’s fall. By this time of year we get weary of the AC going all the time and want out time outside. I was raised in Maryland, but Wisconsin might be a little overwhelming for me.

ONLY you would get excited about the smell of poop and then the smell that covers it. If you’d like, I can deliver a few particularly ripe diapers to your home so you can use your scent all the time!

Thanks, and you’re really not whining too much. Hope you get to visit your friends some before you come south.
